BELGIAN ECONOMISTS
From the early 1920s, so many of Belgium's best economists pursued postgraduate studies at top American universities. This was made possible by scholarships from the Commission for the Relief of Belgium, set up by Herbert Hoover in 1914, which became the Belgian American Educational Foundation in 1938.
