Research Report Competition

About the competition

Since 1999, the Association of Investment Management (AIM), a student run organization at the Leonard N. Stern School of Business at New York University, has sponsored an equity research competition, in which students are charged with writing an initiation report on a company of their choosing. Based on the quality of their written reports five teams are selected to pitch their Buy/Sell/Hold recommendations before a panel of industry professionals comprised of judges provided by our sponsors. The reports are published for informational purposes only by the members of the AIM.

These student-generated research reports allow AIM members to gain excellent experience analyzing companies, develop comprehensive spreadsheet models to make earnings, cash flow, and other financial projections, and write reports on a given company's prospects and valuation relative to its peers and other benchmarks.  This experience will help students succeed in an increasingly competitive investment analysis/asset management career.

The winning team is invited to compete on Stern's behalf, in NYSSA's annual Investment Research Challenge. Past participants include: the Stern School of Business, Columbia Business School, Baruch College, Fordham University and others.
