The First Snow

Yesterday, it snowed in New York City for the first time this winter. Overnight, we are expected to get 3-6 inches. I am not thrilled.

Growing up I loved the snow. A day off of school, tackle football (it didn't hurt to get tackled), and snowball fights were just a few of the highlights. I still love snow, but not in New York City.

In the city, the snow just makes a mess. It gets dirty (and with the dogs often yellow) very quickly, making a slushy salty liquid that gets all over your shoes. When it finally all melts, it creates huge puddles of muddy water that floods and drains slowly.

Not having fun with snow is just a price you pay for living in a big city.

Who Is Stupider?

Oh this is too funny. CNN had a web poll on their front page today that asked the following question:

Who is stupider?
  • Ann Coulter
  • Jeering UConn students

No joke. As of 3:15pm, the vote was 63%-37% for Coulter. I saved a screenshot of the poll for posterity:

Nobody Reads this Blog

Hello, if you're reading this, it means somebody is reading this blog! Which is a contradiction, because nobody reads this blog. Oh no! It's like matter and antimatter colliding! Watch out, the world is going to end because you are now reading the blog that nobody reads!!!!! The universe is just going to evaporate in a burst of energy - maybe it will create another big bang and from that, another universe. Hmm...since your reading this blog is what caused the world to end, forming a new big bang, that would make you responsible for the formation of the new universe. You'd be like God! Just because you read the blog that nobody reads.

Merry Christmas and Happy Hannukah

It's been a couple of weeks since I last blogged. I was busy frantically finishing up schoolwork for a while, and then Tracy and I went to Killington to ski. The slopes were great, as long as you didn't freeze to death going up the lift. It was 5 degrees on one of the days we were there. We had to keep going in the lodge every 2 hours.

Anyways, now that I'm back, I hope everyone had a merry Christmas (and happy Hannukah for my Jewish friends). I had a good time. A large chunk of my extended family came over to our house for Mom's oven baked chicken, fried fish, and biryani. Tracy stayed through Christmas as well, which was very much appreciated. She even got to play Monopoly Junior with my 6 year old cousin Deepa.

My best present this year was a new Skagen watch, given to me by Tracy. It's a great titanium analog watch with a date display. The only problem is it ticks too loudly. I can't sleep in a room with a ticking clock, so I have to hide it in a drawer at night.

I'd like to know what other people got. Post your best presents in the comments.
