Batia M. Wiesenfeld, Ph.D.

Dr. Wiesenfeld, who received her Ph.D. in Management and Organizational Behavior from the Columbia University Graduate School of Business, is currently an Associate Professor of Management at the Leonard N. Stern School of Business, New York University.  Her teaching and research interests focus on self dynamics in organizations, and the management of organizational change.  She has examined organizations in various industries (e.g., banking, telecommunications, public utilities) undergoing downsizing, restructuring and reengineering programs, exploring how to maintain the productivity and commitment of remaining employees.  She also studies virtual work and telecommuting initiatives. Dr. Wiesenfeld has published her work in leading academic journals and books, including Journal of Personality and Social Psychology, Psychological Bulletin, and Organization Science.  She has been quoted in periodicals such as Business Week magazine, the New York Times, and USA Today and has appeared on television and radio programs including Good Morning America, CNN , NPR, and BBC-TV.
