What is Stern Student Council and its mission?

Stern Student Council is the student governing body of the school. We are the liaison between the student body and the administration. Our mission is to foster a Stern community, provide a forum for the student body, bridge the gap between the NYU schools, present cultural experiences, and encourage professional development.

Why should I join Student Council?

Student Council is a great way of becoming an active member of the community. It provides a forum where students can voice their opinions about the school and begin to enact changes. It is also a great way to meet other Stern students and have fun.

What distinguish Student Council from other clubs in Stern?

Student Council offers a place for Stern students, no matter what major or year, to propose actual changes in our school. It is a great opportunity for students to have a real impact on their school.

How do I join Student Council?

Anybody can join Student Council. To be a member, simply show up to general meetings and social events. You are also encouraged to sign up for any of the existing committees and start contributing to your Stern experience immediately!

What kind of social events do you guys do?

We are responsible for Casino Night, Class Wars, Fall Harvest, Stern Semi-Formal and more.

What do general members usually do?

General members attend the weekly general meetings, help in the planning of social events, and present problems with Stern to the board members.

When/where is the general meeting?

General meetings happen every Tuesday during common hour (12:30 PM) in Tisch 200. We will send an email to the school if there is a change in location.

Do you serve food during your general meetings?
