PhD Workshop in Macroeconomics and Related Fields
Revised: October 13, 2005

Overview

This is a workshop in macroeconomics and related fields in which PhD students present original work. I'm not sure how the format and structure will evolve, but I do have a couple goals. The long-term goal is to create a supportive intellectual environment in which PhD students can do first-rate work (and get good jobs!). The immediate goal is to provide a venue for students to get frequent honest feedback. The feedback could come from me or other faculty, but I would also like to see it come from students. For that reason, I would like articipants to feel an obligation not only to present their own work, but to comment intelligently on work by others. Other than that, I welcome suggestions.

Announcements will be sent to people who ask to be included. If you'd like to be added to the list or dropped from it, let me know.

Time and place: Thursdays, 11am-12n, KMC 7-191 (the economics conference room).

Guidelines

This, too, will evolve as we learn more, but I'd suggest some guidelines to get us started:

  • Presentation slots will be allocated by me in consultation with other faculty.
  • Presenters will supply links to slides and/or paper several days ahead of time.
  • We start and end on time: 11am - 12n, with informal discussion after the formal end of the session.

Other suggestions welcome.
