  • INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITY AT EOFFICE-ONLINE

eoffice-online is offering a paid internship ($10 hr) that will give you the unique opportunity to help develop a business plan for an early stage software company working alongside a successful entrepreneur.

    Company Background

eoffice-online is customer relationship management (CRM) software company that was originally developed by Motorcycle Safety School ( www.ridemss.com ) to enhance its own operations. Seeing an opportunity to sell this proprietary software to other companies, eoffice-online became incorporated as separate company in 2004 and currently has 15 clients that generate approximately $5MM of annual revenue on which eoffice-online receives royalties. While the business is currently profitable, the company’s founder wants to take the company to the next level and therefore requires help with refining the company’s value proposition vis-à-vis competitors as well as the target markets for the software package.

    Job Requirements

Responsibilities would include 3-5 hours of work per week which includes a weekly meeting with the company’s founder in Williamsburg. Interns will be responsible for among other things performing competitive research and target market analysis. The end result of this internship would ideally a business plan for the company. This internship could evolve into a full-time role after the student graduates depending upon the company’s needs at that time.

Please send your resume to Diane Howells at dh@eoffice-online.com

  • Accretive is looking for a Summer Associate in Manhattan for 2009. The firm operates under a very different investment model – we take a hybrid venture / private equity investing approach with an emphasis on using an entrepreneurial lens to identify great opportunities.

When a thesis has been developed Accretive will get involved in companies in a number of ways including starting them from scratch, doing a traditional venture deal, or small to mid-sized buyout. We do not seek incoming “deal flow” in the traditional sense, and we do not participate in auctions. Rather, we start with a deep study of customers and their unmet needs. In many ways, our process more closely mirrors that of an entrepreneur who is analyzing markets to find opportunities for value-creation. Half of the time our investment process leads to the founding of a new business. Over ten years, this approach has resulted in a unique portfolio of companies – in business services and healthcare – that have each re-defined their market categories while generating superior returns for shareholders.
For the right individual this job is a truly unique opportunity to blend both the excitement and depth of an entrepreneurial experience with the breadth and financial diversification of private equity. I would recommend that you read our website (www.accretivellc.com) to learn more (although I am certain it bears further explanation). The best candidates for our firm are those that have a strong entrepreneurial bent (versus a desire to “do deals”), enjoy solving problems and have excellent leadership skills.
We will be screening candidates over the next several weeks and intend to make two offers by the end of March. The summer position will involve deep sector research and investment platform identification and may include some portfolio company exposure. This could be a great opportunity for someone looking to blend entrepreneurship and principal investing.

    Please email resumes to adam@accretivellc.com

  • More postings will develop as the year progresses...check back from time to time.

SUCCESS STORIES
Joe Ruggiero, MBA2, Class'08
"I'm attempting to make the transition into venture capital / private equity, and to work toward that goal I focused on obtaining an internship in VC/PE this summer.

The job search in these industries is very competitive, so it was imperative for me to network outside of the traditional on-campus recruiting cycles. Since the firms are small and deal flow is unpredictable, VC/PE job opportunities do not really develop until April/May, and I actually ended up obtaining my internship in May via a recommendation from an interviewer at a job that I didn't get.

I worked for the summer at Millennium Partners, a small private equity fund that focuses on the luxury and real estate sectors. Thanks to the small size of the firm, I received great deal of responsibility and I spent half my time evaluating new investment opportunities and half my time developing strategies for one of Millennium's portfolio companies"
