ABBY F. KOHNSTAMM

Abby F. Kohnstamm joined IBM in June 1993.  Ms. Kohnstamm has overall responsibility for marketing at IBM.  In this capacity, she oversees marketing management, integrated marketing communications, market intelligence, distribution channel and technical support marketing.  In addition, she is responsible for management of the IBM brand and IBM's corporate community relations program.  Ms. Kohnstamm is a member of IBM's Corporate Executive Committee.

Prior to joining IBM, Ms. Kohnstamm held a number of senior marketing positions at American Express, beginning in 1979.  She also served as executive assistant to the president of American Express in 1986 and 1987.  Her last position at American Express was senior vice president,Cardmember marketing, with responsibility for marketing Green, Gold and Platinum Card products.

Abby Kohnstamm is a member of the following boards:  The Association of National Advertisers, Inc., the Advertising Council, the Board of Overseers for Arts and Sciences at Tufts University, and the Board of Overseers at New York University's Stern School of Business.

Born in Los Angeles, California, Ms. Kohnstamm holds a B.A. from Tufts University (1975), and M.A. in Education from New York University (1977), and an M.B.A. from New York University (1979).
