Holding financial seminars at High School of Economics and Finance (HSEAF) is the result of IAG’s initial experiment with spreading its goal of financial education beyond the bounds of Tisch Hall. Thanks to its active members, IAG has now successfully expanded the program of conducting interactive workshops on Finance and business topics, to consist 8 week long seminar series every semester, targeting sophomores, juniors and seniors at the high school. This initiative is a unique opportunity for our members to show leadership, involvement and dedication to the club and the bigger NYC community. It is volunteering through learning – a principle that matches IAG’s mission perfectly.

About HSEAF and the Seminars

The High School of Economics & Finance, a New York City public high school located in the heart of Wall Street, provides 750 students from all five boroughs of the City with a demanding college preparatory program. Its mission is to provide a rigorous academic program in economics and finance that includes real-world opportunities. The school is the home of the Sanford I. Weill Institute for Lifelong Learning, an award-winning school-to-career program. Firms on the school’s Advisory Board include: Citigroup, PricewaterhouseCoopers, The McGraw-Hill Companies, Merrill Lynch, AIG, Inc., KPMG, Ernst &Young, CIBC, Deutsche Bank and Prudential.

In Wednesday seminars, students obtain current and practical knowledge of economics, finance, communication, politics and life skills. In each eight-week cycle, the Institute conducts approximately 25 different seminars offered by external organizations. Executives and professionals from industry and educational organizations give an hour and a half of instruction (1:09 – 2:39 p.m.) to students. These seminars help prepare students for life and give them an opportunity to explore different careers.
