Books for Foundations of Finance

The information below reflects what I've been led to believe by McGraw-Hill and the NYU Bookstore. I can't guarantee its accuracy.

McGraw Hill has prepared a custom shrink-wrapped packet for us. The packet consists of:

Bodie, Kane and Marcus, Investments

This material lies at the heart of the course.

The solution guide to Investments

Over the course of the semester, I'll be assigning about a hundred problems from the book. The solution guide has the answers.

Three chapters from Ross, Westerfield and Jordan, Essentials of Corporate Finance

I'll be assigning problems in this material. You need access to it. I'll put a copy on reserve.

You may be wondering...

Should I to get a deal on the text from a web vendor?

You might get a great price on Investments, but that still leaves you having to purchase the other things. I don't think that the NYU Bookstore will allow you to break open a packet to buy a part of it.

Can I make do with an old editions?

Only if you want to be doing the wrong assigned problems and readings. Publishers usually differentiate editions sufficiently to make simultaneous use of different editions difficult.

Why doesn't the professor just photocopy the stuff and hand out copies in class?
