The New York State Intergenerational Network

NYSIgN's Mission:

We work to stimulate the growth of intergenerational programming and to advocate for public policies that recognize the benefits of different generations working together. Linking generations creates a sense of family, strengthens communities, and makes the skills and experience of different generations available to one another.

NYSIgN is a statewide, non-profit organization of over 100 voluntary agencies and individuals. It is composed of county chapters, grouped into regions. Regional areas are: Long Island, New York City, Mid Hudson, Albany, Southern Tier, Central New York, and Finger Lakes. Each region has two representatives on the Board of Directors.

We are a member of Generations United, the national coalition on intergenerational issues and programs.

NYSIgN has established the following objectives:

To assist with program development by providing written materials, training conferences, and guidelines for program planning, implementaion and evaluation.
To create and maintain a resource directory of intergenerational programs throughout New York State.
To advocate on policy issues which address human needs of all generations at local, state, and national levels.
To support and promote regional networks.
