Avijit Ghosh

Biography |
Avijit
Ghosh is the Vice Dean at New York University’s Leonard N.
Stern School of Business, where he has been teaching since
1980. He graduated from the University of Calcutta in 1970,
received his MBA degree from Xavier Institute in 1974, and
M.A. and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Iowa in 1979.
Professor Ghosh is the author of Retail Management (Dryden
Press 1990 and 1994), co-author of Location Strategy for Retail
and Service Firms (Lexington Books, 1987) and co-editor of
Spatial Analysis and Location Allocation Models (Van Nostrand
Reinhold, 1987) and Spatial Analysis in Marketing: Theory,
Methods and Applications (JAI Press, 1991). His teaching earned
him the School’s Excellence in Teaching Award in 1991. Professor
Ghosh served as the Director of the Center for Entrepreneurial
Studies at the Stern School from 1991-1994. In 1995, Professor
Ghosh was appointed as Vice Dean of the Stern School with
overall responsibility for the full-time and part-time MBA
programs and executive education. From 1998-99 Professor Ghosh
was appointed to the position of Deputy Dean, a newly created
position that shared the overall leadership and responsibility
of the school with the Dean. After a short sabbatical Professor
Ghosh rejoined the Dean's office as Vice Dean with responsibility
for the part-time and executive MBA programs, executive development
programs and distance education. He is also the co-chair of
the School' strategic planning task force.

Lucas Graves

Biography |
As
an analyst, Lucas Graves focuses on emerging online markets
throughout the Latin America and Canada regions. Previously
he has covered a broad range of topics including digital-music
delivery, PC hardware and peripherals, wireless Internet access,
Web applications and home networking. Graves joined Jupiter
in January 1999 after serving for two and a half years as a
senior writer and then associate editor of Marketing Computers
magazine, a business and marketing monthly covering consumer
and business-to-business information technology. Graves and
the staff of Marketing Computers received the 1998 Neal Award
for the best single issue of a trade magazine, for the October
1997 issue featuring his cover story on the building of the
Yahoo! brand. From 1995 to 1996 he was the test-drive editor
for Teleconnect magazine, the largest trade monthly in the telecommunications/computer-telephony
industry. Prior to that, he served as a research associate for
the Council on Hemispheric Affairs, a Washington, D.C., think
tank concerned with Latin American affairs; there he also served
as editor of COHA's Washington Report on the Hemisphere. Graves
received a bachelor's degree in political science from the University
of Chicago in 1993. |

Sebastián J. Gunningham

Sebastián joined
Oracle Corporation in 1989 as a Product Manager after many
years working at information technology companies such as
Automation Technology Products and Cimplex Corporation. In
1991 assumed as Sales and Consulting Manager at Oracle Argentina
S.A. In 1994 became President and Managing Director of Oracle
Argentina and since 1997 he is the Vice President of Oracle
Latin America, currently Senior Vice President. He received
a BS in Mathematical Science from Stanford University, California.
Member of the Oracle Leadership Council (1995-2000) and Professor
of the MBA program at ITBA University, Buenos Aires (1995).
Among others, Mr. Gunningham was guest speaker at Harvard
Business School Ebusiness Seminar (2000) and The Economist
Intelligence Unit Series (1999).

Ricardo Hausmann

Biography |
Ricardo
Hausmann is currently Professor of the Practice of Economic
Development at the Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University.
He served as Chief Economist of the Inter-American Development
Bank for six years (1994-2000) . Under his direction, the
IDB's Research Department played a pivotal role in Latin America's
public policy debate and was at the vanguard of discussions
on such controversial issues as reform of the international
financial architecture and dollarization. Previously he was
the Minister of Coordination and Planning of Venezuela and
the Chairman of the Joint Development Committee of the International
Monetary Fund and the World Bank. He was also Director of
the Board of the Central Bank of Venezuela. Mr. Hausmann boasts
a long list of publications on a wide variety of Latin American
socioeconomic issues: macroeconomic volatility, income inequality,
budget institutions, banking crises, financial turmoil, the
international financial architecture, and exchange rate regimes.

George Th. Kastner

Biography |
Senior
Vice President of Arthur D. Little, Inc., former Regional Managing
Director of Latin America, and recently appointed as Global
Key Client Management Director. Prior to joining Arthur D. Little,
Dr. Kastner was professor of Business Administration with a
leading business school in Latin America. He is a member of
several professional associations, member of the board of several
companies in Venezuela, member of the editorial board of several
Venezuelan based professional journals, and co-Director of the
NOMOS CFIA Project of Harvard University. He has published over
30 articles and chapters in business management related books
and he is a frequent speaker in international events. Dr. Kastner
received his Ph.D. in Operation Research and System Analysis
from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill in 1980.
He received his M.Sc. Degree from the Technion (Technological
Institute of Israel) in 1973 and earned a B.Sc. (Cum Laude)
in Industrial Engineering Degree in 1971. He is fluent in Spanish,
English, Hebrew and Hungarian, and has working knowledge of
Rumanian and German. |

Jorge O. Mariscal

Jorge
O. Mariscal joined Goldman Sachs in January 1992. He is the
chief investment strategist for Latin America and director of
the Latin America Equity Research Group. He also coordinated
the firm's global emerging markets research and became a managing
director in 1999. Previous to joining Goldman Sachs, he worked
at The Nomura Research Institute as chief strategist and director
of research for Latin America. In the 1999 Institutional Investor
poll, the Goldman Sachs Latin America Research Team ranked #3
overall. From 1992-1993 and 1996-1999, Jorge was named to the
Institutional Investor Latin America Research Team, and ranked
#1 in the Reuters survey in 1998 for strategy. He received a
Ph.D. from New York University in economics and international
finance in 1986 and a B.A. in economics from Metropolitan University
in Mexico City. |

Ricardo Reisen

Mr.
Reisen is currently responsible for M&A activities regarding
e-business. Recent achievements were the strategic alliance
with America Online and the design of Itaú's B2B and financial
portal strategies. Prior to this, acted as Managing Director
for corporate banking, actively contributing in marketing strategies,
product development and the human resources fronts. Mr. Reisen
developed a broad experience in investment banking and relationship
management of large corporations at Banco Garantia and ABN Amro
Bank. Mr. Reisen holds a PMD from Harvard, a M.Sc. in Finance
and B.S. in Mechanic Engineering from PUC RJ. Banco Itaú is
the 2nd largest private Brazilian bank and a widely acclaimed
leading financial institution. Recognized under the slogan "5-Stars

Ignacio Vidaguren

Ignacio
Vidaguren is responsible for Corporate Business Development
at MercadoLibre.com. He is in charge of coordinating business
development efforts in the different countries where MercadoLibre.com
has a presence, and is involved in pan-regional strategic alliances,
mergers and acquisitions, and special projects. Prior to joining
MercadoLibre.com in 1999, Mr. Vidaguren was a Junior Engagement
Manager at McKinsey and Co. in New York. He worked for the Corporate
Finance group since 1998, where he was involved in M & A, alliances,
corporate portfolio restructuring and private equity investment,
both in the United States and Europe. Mr. Vidaguren also worked
for McKinsey in Argentina and Brazil, where he started as a
Business Analyst in 1994. Mr. Vidaguren worked for The Walt
Disney Company, in the International Business Development Group,
and for The Disney Store, in the United States and Mexico. He
also worked for Citibank Argentina as a Management Associate
in the Global Finance group. Mr. Vidaguren holds a Master of
Business Administration from the Stanford Graduate School of
Business, and a dual-degree in Business Administration and Accounting
from Universidad Catolica Argentina, where he was Summa Cum
Laude and Valedictorian of his class. |

John H. Tonelli

Biography |
John
Tonelli is the Chairman and CEO of IVP. Mr. Tonelli has over
fifteen years of experience in Latin American finance, working
both as an investment banker and as an attorney. Mr. Tonelli
has advised the governments of Argentina, Chile, Paraguay and
Uruguay on a wide variety of matters, including privatizations,
debt financings, securities regulations and public works projects.
Most notably, Mr. Tonelli was an advisor on the following transactions:
· $7.9 billion privatization of the Airports System of Argentina
· $2 billion privatization of the National Mortgage Bank of
Argentina (Banco Hipotecario Nacional) · Restructuring and initial
privatization of the $8.0 billion Yacyretá hydroelectric facility,
and · $1 billion restructuring of the Argentine National Reinsurance
Agency (Instituto Nacional de Reaseguros (INDER). In addition,
Mr. Tonelli also advised the Republic of Paraguay on an international
sovereign bond issuance and, in connection with such issuance,
helped the Republic obtain a sovereign rating from Standard
& Poors. Prior to forming IVP, Mr. Tonelli managed the Latin
American practice at the law firm Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft.
Also, he recently served as President of Centenary International
Corporation (OTC/BB-RRRI), a $113 million publicly traded grain
trading, production and shipping company. Mr. Tonelli has served
as President of the Paraguayan-American Chamber of Commerce
Inc. and as President of the Uruguay-U.S. Chamber of Commerce
Inc. Mr. Tonelli received his BA degree from Columbia University
and his MBA and JD degrees from Fordham University.

Christopher Tucci

Christopher
L. Tucci is Assistant Professor of Entrepreneurship, Innovation,
and Operations Management, Leonard N. Stern School of Business,
New York University. He received the degrees of Bachelor of
Science in Mathematical Sciences (1982), Bachelor of Arts in
Music (1983), and Master of Science in Computer Science (1984)
from Stanford University. He also received the degree of Master
of Science in Technology & Policy (1992) from the Massachusetts
Institute of Technology (MIT) and the Ph.D. in Management from
the Sloan School of Management, MIT, in 1997. His prior work
experience was as an industrial computer scientist at Ford Aerospace,
where he was involved in developing Internet protocols and applying
artificial intelligence tools to industrial problems. Professor
Tucci's primary area of expertise is in how firms manage technology
to gain competitive advantage. He is the co-author (with Allan
Afuah) of Internet Business Models and Strategies, the first
MBA text book in the area of e-business strategy. He was recently
elected to the Executive Committee of the Academy of Management's
TIM (Technology & Innovation Management) Division. |
