The MKTSOC Credo

2009-2010

Our organization is dedicated to promoting students' interest and awareness of current issues and trends in the field of marketing and related careers.

We strive to host, either alone or through co-sponsorships, at least nine events per semester including, but not limited to, speaker panels, professor lectures, company visits, social mingles, marketing competitions, and resume workshops.

We maintain an active relationship with the American Marketing Association (AMA) which allows our members to take advantage of the benefits of AMA membership. This includes the AMA newsletter, which has the latest marketing news and announcements about conferences, events and workshops throughout the U.S.

Our organization is committed to connecting our members to the latest industry news. Beyond our speaker events, we do this through various means including our Website, Weekly Update, Blog, and Newsletter. These resources connect members to top sources for information about industry news and trends.

The Marketing Society strives to build a community for people who are passionate about marketing. In addition to attending our club events, members can connect with us and each other via our Website, Facebook Group and Fan Page, Twitter, Blog, and LinkedIn page.

We have renewed our focus on helping our members connect with individuals outside of our immediate club through our Alumni Network and Mentorship program. We are committed to laying the foundation for a community of past members who will then be better connected to each other as well as current members. This year we will also be expanding our successful mentorship program which pairs current members with seasoned industry professionals. We plan on hosting a large mingle event where current members, alumni members and mentors can all connect and share their passion for the industry.

General members of The Marketing Society must accrue at least 2 points per semester. Speaker and professional development events are worth 2 points each while Social events are worth 1 point each. To become a Gold Member, students must accrue at least 12 points by attending any combination of events. Advantages of being a gold status member include a special event and reward at the end of the semester, internship opportunities, guaranteed AMA membership, and higher possibility of obtaining an e-board position the following semester.
