Gil Nogueira

I obtained a B.A. in Economics and a Master’s in Finance at the Nova School (Portugal) and currently work in the Research Department at the Bank of Portugal. I am doing research on hold-up costs in customer-bank relationships and on the impact of unconventional monetary policy on bank lending. I decided to enroll in a PhD program to develop the necessary research skills in Finance and gain exposure to new research interests. I am delighted at the opportunity to do my PhD at Stern because its Finance Department is very active in the most vibrant areas of research and also because of its track record in training doctoral students. I enjoy the challenge of experiencing new cultural environments. In the past, I had the opportunity to live, work, and do volunteering in Africa. I am also an avid theater and cinema goer, thus I could not be happier with the prospect of living in New York.
