I have spent several years in the financial services industry which some of my colleagues refer to as "the dark side." I continue to maintain industry contacts and work with a number of businesses, helping them to define their IT and data strategy. The specific areas in which I work are:

Predictive modeling in financial markets: some of my trading strategies are in use. Sometimes they work better than at other times. I am (or rather my computer program is) always predicting what will happen tomorrow in the financial markets. Looks like I've been correct 61% of the time on a monthly basis since May 2002! Is that better than random?

Customer modeling: I have done extensive modeling in a number of areas including predicting customer attrition, customer response to price increases and incentives, cross selling, and salesforce profiling and management.
