Prior to finishing my Ph.D. and joining Stern, I worked as a system developer for two years at Information Builders, Inc. (http://www.ibi.com). In particular, I worked on the development of READ and WRITE interfaces between FOCUS (product of Information Builders) and DBC/SQL (product of TERADATA Corp., currently, a part of NCR Corp.) databases. I also optimized READ interfaces between FOCUS and DB2, SQL/DS, and DBC/SQL databases. I addition, I developed a pre-loading feature of FOCUS and also worked on improving FOCUS security.
I periodically consult for the industry on data mining, click fraud and personalization/CRM
projects. My summer 2006 project involving Google's click fraud activities were
extensively covered in the press, including The Wall Street
Journal, Business Week Online, Financial Times, Los Angeles Times, Mercury News,
International Herald Tribune, Computerworld, InformationWeek, and various other
publications.
I have been involved with some startups and in the technology transfer of my
research. As a result of my industry-related activities, I (co)-authored 4 patents.
One of these patents on the profiling and recommendation technologies that I
developed at NYU (no. 6,236,978) was extensively covered in the
July 30, 2001 New York Times article.
