Professor Ofek's research specialties are in measuring the impact of a firm's actions and decisions on its value. In particular actions such as: corporate diversification, mergers and acquisitions, corporate restructuring, capital structure choice, and payout policy. He also researches the effect of stock selling restrictions on event like lockup expiration, the internet bubble and option prices. Other topics of research include: financial distress, valuation models, and international corporate finance, in particular hedging foreign currency exposure, and investment in emerging markets. He teaches Corporate finance and Cases in finance FinDotCom and Investment banking at the graduate, undergraduate, executive and PhD levels at the Stern School of Business. Professor Ofek has worked for Morgan Stanley in quantitative research trading, for the Bank of Israel, for Fidelity Investment Corp, and consulted on issues related to valuation of companies and investments to various investment banks and consulting firms.
