Michael J. Capek
 
Since 1986, Michael J. Capek has designed and delivered management communication programs and has trained groups and individuals from a variety of organizations, including American Express Company, JP Morgan Chase, Federal Reserve Bank of New York, Goldman, Sachs & Company, Mobil Oil Corporation, and Time Warner, Inc.  Dr. Capek’s recent work focuses on strategic presentation skills for a variety of contexts and audiences and intensive communication coaching for senior executives, both in the United States and Europe.

For the past decade, Dr. Capek was Associate Professor of Management Communication at the Stern School of Business of New York University.  He is a regular guest lecturer at such noted European business schools as the Helsinki School of Economics and Business Administration, Copenhagen Business School, the ESCP-EAP Graduate School of Management in Paris, and the Universität St. Gallen in Switzerland.

Dr. Capek received his doctorate from the University of Wisconsin and did post-graduate work in linguistics at Oxford before joining the faculty of Princeton University, where he taught linguistics and designed and directed that university's expository writing program.  He has received awards from the American Council of Learned Societies, the National Science Foundation, and the National Endowment for the Humanities and has published in both scholarly and popular journals.  He was the 1995-96 Stern Professor of the Year, and in 1997 he received a Stern Distinguished Teaching Award.
